Tips on Organizing a Competitive/Travel Team

MSA encourages and promotes the development of competitive teams. These teams register with the Tennessee State Soccer Association according to the division of level of skill and competitiveness at which they wish to play. The TSSA also allows teams to register as recreational for play with other associations within the state. Competitive teams can also advance to play in state-level tournaments.

Competitive play involves more time and commitment than recreational soccer, and develops the committed player. Competitive teams generally play in more competitive games against other teams, and participate in tournament play. While there is no guaranteed playing time, competitive players play and practice at a more advanced level than the typical recreational team, improving the skills of all involved.
